Shoggoth is now 100 mililiters bigger than the last time i checked. I might need to consider getting a small fish tank like one of you requested. Haven't stirred it, and this nice white crust is the result.
The banana piece is turning the white layer around it brown and soft/wet.
Here's a more color accurate picture:

The teal green (upper) is pieces of Cthun, the bright green stains are probally from one of the chemicals and the spit is, obviously, just spit.
You might wonder where those red musquito larva's have gone, well, i have no idea. Most of them stopped moving after around ~16 minutes by the way. Creepily enough, some of them actually dug into the layer so they probally died inside one of the three layers.
I might throw in some more later and film it.
Finally got to putting the liquid from the bottom layer under a microscope.
And there was so much bacteria movement in it that it kind of hurted my eyes just looking at it, fuck. And most of them looked pretty much the same, but what can you expect with bacteria.
Some of them we're bigger than the rest though.
I don't know if that's special, but i thought i'd tell you anyway.
I shouldnt have dropped biology and chemistry in highschool.
is there any way to photograph the microscopic acitivities going on in side Shoggoth?
ReplyDeleteAlso i see that you got a decent camera. nice.
Sorry, i dont have access to those high-tech microscopes. (yet?)
ReplyDeleteYou should add stem cells to Shoggoth. I really am interested in this prodject of yours. you should set up a time lapse. Maybe evn a live feed 24/7!
ReplyDeleteI live feed would be awesome, but stem cells would defeat the point of it. Stem cells are already 'alive' where as shoggoth is made up of.....something else.
ReplyDeleteStem cells would be awesome, but impossible to get...
ReplyDeleteBut I also vote live feed, I would sit and stare all day.
I see your point, but I stick with my timelapse/live feed ideah.
ReplyDeleteLive feed... i have a shitty webcam that could be used, i dont know. I'll have to think about it seeing how much power my computer eats. Which is a money thing.
ReplyDeleteI could also use one of those mini laptops i found i geuss.
I'll think about it and ask around on college tomorrow.
id say set up a time lapse for every day. a live feed would be next to useless and quite boring after the first five minutes, as well as rasising your energy bill through the roof. for the time lapse, just set your camera up on a tripod or something and focus on shoggoth. then have the timer( or yourself if you dont have a timer on the camera) take a pic every 20 minutes post the resulting pics as a .gif and voila. your very own time lapse
ReplyDeletethe top pic looks yummy
ReplyDeleteDefinatly Time Lapse! Theyre so easy!
ReplyDeleteAdd in some butterflies and moths
ReplyDeleteOr some catipillars.
Later on, get some mice. The kind bred for live snake food.
By later on I mean like a month or two.
Videotapes would be great, Im not morbid, I don't WANT to see animals die persay, but adding small animals and incects in, and seeing Shoggoth's reaction would be a very interesting expierience.
Seeing as how this project is getting more popular I suggest setting-up a sort of donation possibility somewhere on the front page here.
ReplyDeleteI also suggest eating sho(or drinking?).
You know, I once had that same issue on wanting to photograph some I used my cellphone camera to take a picture. the trick is to have a steady hand and patience for the camera to adjsut itself to the scope's lens.
ReplyDeleteIf you know anybody pregnant who wants an abortion, theres your stem cells laddy.
