Oh god fuck yes.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiotrophic_fungus
Radiotrophic fungi are fungi which appear to use the pigment melanin to convert gamma radiation into chemical energy for growth. This proposed mechanism may be similar to anabolic pathways for the synthesis of reduced organic carbon (e.g., carbohydrates) in phototrophic organisms, which capture photons from visible light with pigments such as chlorophyll whose energy is then used in photolysis of water to generate usable chemical energy (as ATP) in photophosphorylation of photosynthesis. However, whether melanin-containing fungi employ a similar multi-step pathway as photosynthesis, or some chemosynthesis pathways, is unknown.
These were first discovered in 2007 as black molds growing inside and around the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine showed that three melanin-containing fungi, Cladosporium sphaerospermum, Wangiella dermatitidis, and Cryptococcus neoformans, increased in biomass and accumulated acetate faster in an environment in which the radiation level was 500 times higher than in the normal environment. Exposure of C. neoformans cells to these radiation levels rapidly (within 20–40 minutes of exposure) altered the chemical properties of its melanin and increased melanin-mediated rates of electron transfer (measured as reduction of ferricyanide by NADH) 3 to 4-fold compared with unexposed cells. Similar effects on melanin electron-transport capability were observed by the authors after exposure to non-ionizing radiation, suggesting that melanotic fungi might also be able to use light or heat radiation for growth.
However, melanization may come at some metabolic cost to the fungal cells: in the absence of radiation, some non-melanized fungi (that had been mutated in the melanin pathway) grew faster than their melanized counterparts. Limited uptake of nutrients due to the melanin molecules in the fungal cell wall or toxic intermediates formed in melanin biosynthesis have been suggested to contribute to this phenomenon. It is consistent with the observation that despite being capable of producing melanin, many fungi do not synthesize melanin constitutively (i.e., all the time), but often only in response to external stimuli or at different stages of their development. The exact biochemical processes in the suggested melanin-based synthesis of organic compounds or other metabolites for fungal growth, including the chemical intermediates (such as native electron donor and acceptor molecules) in the fungal cell and the location and chemical products of this process, are unknown.
Oh hello guys.

Well fuck me sideways.
First of all i forgot to post the pictures of that bottle, they aren't very clear but they show you basicly what the entire bottle is like.

Kind of neat. I keep forgetting that i actually have this bottle, and these pictures are old by now. So i wonder what it now looks like? Might check tomorrow. As for my residence in the land of fungi, my stay doesn't seem to be over; Rot is still following me everywhere. (Nurgle incarnate?).
For example, i just opened up my trash can, emptied a few days ago just to find this:

(Shitty cellphone camera)
And no, those are not my cigarettes but... Look at that white haze of fungi that had grown in a few days. And below it and on the sides there was even more. Mostly white. And no, i just cleared the trashcan sorry, not going to keep this.
Still creeped the fuck out of me.

It is almost 4:00 AM here, i am tired as hell: Time to write more "days after".
Got a few questions about how my health went after getting rid of Shoggoth... So:
I recovered from feeling like shit within a week or two, and I haven't been sick ever since. There were a few little side effects besides that that remained after all this though:
- I had grown used to HORRIBLE smells, so, basicly, you can puke infront of my face and i would barely notice the smell.
- Some standard medicin like painkillers and sleeping pills don't seem to affect me anymore. I have no idea if stronger medicin will, but it probally will.
- When i go outside i still get all itchy.
- My lungs have grown stronger, and i can easily tolerate people smoking (for example) next to me now, unlike earlier in my life.
- Haven't passed out/had black outs ever since.
And, but probally not something related to the whole hell goo project; I've become some sort of an imsomniac, but worse. A sleep anorexic? I don't know.
I've had trouble falling to sleep for as long as i can remember, but it has grown worse and worse for the last few months. So naturally after the doctor called me a chronic imsomnic, i got sleeping pills.
Didn't work. Had to try other sleeping pills; Didn't work either.
So i started skipping nights every once in a while. After a while, i started skipping more nights.
I now sleep 3-4 days a week. And it's already 04:04 AM here now again: Wake up early, stay up very late. There are people out there who sleep more in one or two days than i do in a week.
My body doesn't seem to be affected by the lack of sleep, i haven't grown insane (yet?) and i seem to perform better in things like school and stuff now for an odd reason. But maybe i'm just not able to see any damage that my sleeping rhytm is causing to me right now.
The black lines below my eyes are growing lovely thick though: I've been called junk and burglar a few times now, and emo's all around the globe instantly grow jealous.
So yeah, i'll have to figure something out about that. But it's time to sleep now, and when i wake up i'm going to make a cup of coffee for the first time. Caramel coffee.
So delicious!
Speaking of delicious, It's raining like some sort of hurricane katrina out here, so i still haven't checked that bottle. Getting on the roof is kind of difficult and, even worse; Wet as fuck.

Suddenly, out of fucking nowhere;
A while ago, I came back home from a 3 day long festival. I smelled like beer, urine, sex with scandinavian chicks, mud and fastfood. And sweat. Mission succesful. But...
On the way back i noticed i still had an opened bottle of soft drink (i dont even recall what it was, probally cola or something like that) in my bag. And white fuzzy hairs floated on the liquid, with some pink spots in it and ofcourse the trademark brown spots.
People around me (in the train) obviously did the usual "yuck, throw that away" bullshit, but i didn't care. For some reason it was as if that bottle was screaming DADDY? to me.
I did not throw the bottle away.
I cut it open put some stuff in like flour, milk, and the usual fruit. I left it on my roof for a while, and it was like 35 degrees celcius (that's, err, i think 96 Fahrenheit or something?) outside on an average basis.
After forgetting about it for a while i realised it was still on my roof. Beautiful pink spots had grown everywhere, and all the normal contents had turned white. Except for a brown residue on the bottom. Dejá vu?
I still have this on my roof, but the raining days have started so i don't know when i will check it again.
It also reminded me, obviously, of this place. As you might recall i dumped Shoggoth in the park to the south of me. Sadly after a few weeks it had dissapeared, after eating away some plant life first. Dead fish had started popping up in the river, though probally coincidence and the coin that was in there? The coin was gone. Some kid might have picked it up and put it in it's mouth, heh, awsome.
And there were awfully lots of dead flies/musquitos around there.
I still have C'thun's bottle at my sink and the sink is still a bit clogged thanks to all the shit that went in. Worth it.
So yeah i just felt like sharing this stuff, especially since i've been growing bored again of lately. goodnight!
